‘I’ll Try Anything’ added to Spotify playlist Indie Arrivals

Sydney-based indie-pop artist Pluto Jonze is set to release his innovative new A/B side ‘Moonmaking’/‘Dot’, the first taste of his long-awaited sophomore record ‘Awe’ - produced by the artist himself and mixed by Brendan Cox (Imogen Heap, Guy Siggsworth).

The two-track journey begins with the serene soundscapes of lead single ‘Moonmaking’, balanced with delicate piano and Pluto’s hypnotic vocals, before the smooth humming bass lines infuses the track with its effortless, strutting charm. The track elegantly builds into an enigmatic bridge led by a commanding and domineering guitar solo, lent gravitas by resounding group claps and Pluto’s echoing yells.

The outros atmospherics segues incognito into second track ‘Dot’, a resounding, upbeat synth-pop sing-along that intrigues with exquisite chord choices, creating a joyous chameleon that fluently and fluidly balances between the anticipated and unexpected. Pluto uses an expert dynamic range, creating resounding peaks and troughs with ease, before closing ‘Dot’ with the deftest touch.

Pluto talks about the meaning and inspiration behind the tracks:
“For ‘Moonmaking’ I had the image of this lone piano in the woods, just me and the crickets, conjuring the moon. One of my most intimate songs in terms of writing and production. Trying to channel ‘2001 Space Odyssey’, but a bit sexy. Vangelis but haunting. The piano solo is very much inspired by early 20th century French Romantic composers like Erik Satie and Debussy, super sparse. But then I love how these subtleties contrast with the outrageous full octave fuzz guitar solo, just blowing everything to the stratosphere.
He continues, “‘Dot’ is my modern impression of an old school crooner piano ballad against the backdrop of an epic ‘Bladerunner’ or Vangelis-esque soundscape. I wanted the sense of the enormous and the miniscule together in the production of this. The undercurrent of the huge ominous bass, throbbing like the weight of the world, cut short by finger chimes. Big influence was Landon Speers’ ‘Headaches’ soundscapes.”

Pluto Jonze’s sophomore record ‘Awe’ is due Friday November 5. Pre-order – plutojonze.bandcamp.com
