Restoring Life
Domestic Genocide
28 May 2013
Underground soul crushers Domestic Genocide are pleased to unveil their latest release of sonic exploration in the form of Restoring Life, the debut full-length from instrumental, post-blackened solo project CERNÁ.

Founded in Kalamazoo, Michigan in 2011 by Cody McCoy of ambient prog exhibitionists The Omega Experiment, CERNÁ is a multi-dimensional audio journey self-described as “a musical expression of the many elements missing in modern music today…” Emotionally stirring by design, Restoring Life offers up a swirling vacuum of layered mysteries and cerebral soundscapes inspired by the ethereal odes of Deftones, Asylum Party, Lantlos and Súl ad Astral. “Creating instrumental music brings a lot of opportunity to take off in melody with the array of different instruments,” notes McCoy.

Conceptually, CERNÁ centers itself around the perpetual hurdles of existence. Restoring Life is at once melancholic yet nostalgic delivering voiceless hymns of self-reflection, the changing seasons and the harsh realism of love and loss. There is serenity in its moments of despondency; hope in its flashes of despair; happiness in its swells of misfortune…

Restoring Life will be released via Domestic Genocide Records on May 28, 2013. For preorder bundles in the US point your browser to THIS LOCATION. In Europe, go HERE.

Apathy Remains Victorious
Domestic Genocide
23 April 2013
The latest addition to Domestic Genocide’s assorted roster of sound exhibitionists comes in the form of Finnish post- black metal sound shifters LAURASIA AWAITS US.

A studio project based in Helsinki, LAURASIA AWAITS US’ roots trace back to its earliest experimentations in 2009. Following an assortment of lineup shifts, genre exploration, meditation and a long period of dormancy, only two members — founders Lauri Santeri Lohi and Joona Laine —remain. A solid composing and recording process took shape in the Summer of 2012 resulting in latest full-length, Apathy Remains Victorious.Inspired mostly by life, death and beyond, the lamenting hymns that make up Apathy Remains Victorious are driven forward by the truest of human emotions making for six lush, exploratory soundscapes that are at once somber and sinister. Apathy Remains Victorious will be released via Domestic Genocide Records on April 23, 2013.

LAURASIA AWAITS US:
Lauri Santeri Lohi – Vocals, Lyrics, Composition

Ruines
Domestic Genocide
19 March 2013
The eclectic metal peddlers Domestic Genocide are pleased to reveal Ruines, the debut from one-man post-rock/post-black metal/shoegaze project, thehappymask.

Hailing from Russia, thehappymask is dark, mysterious and shrouded in monochromatic secrecy. The gentleman behind the willful anonymity and stylistic run-around can be unearthed on at least one domestic social network, but even there he hides behind the moniker of “Constantine Horizon.” Self-portraits, visual or textual, do little to increase our database of objective information. Silhouettes and saturated colors hide various faces. Obscurity offers broad appeal, in several senses.

In speaking of his musical development, Constantine shows nothing of the purposeful rhetoric that drives the local economy. Translated from Russian, his self-declaration instead reads: “Basically speaking, this is my own, modest musical project. It came into being very spontaneously at the start of last summer, in a town that doesn’t exist. This is music written under the influence of my private emotions and aspirations, but it’s full of hope that the material will improve.”

The only other thing these shoegazing instrumentals offer in terms of specificity is a small poem, accredited to an anonymous author and written to an unnamed female addressee. Constantine has uploaded it to one of his networking pages. Turned into English prose, it asks a reader to save “magical beauty” from the “illusion of those who say you’re eternal or that happiness lasts forever.” The same text also warns its addressee that perfection is an unobtainable state.
