RIVERS OF NIHIL kündigen Debütalbum 'The Conscious Seed of Light' an!
RIVERS OF NIHIL haben die Arbeiten an ihrem Debütlongplayer The Conscious Seed of Light abgeschlossen. Das Album wurde im März 2013 in den Mana Recording Studios in Florida gemeinsam mit Erik Rutan (HATE ETERNAL) an den Reglern eingespielt. Gitarrist Brody Uttley: "Working with Erik was a true privilege. Coming from the DIY circuit and immediately recording with one of greatest death metal producers of all time pushed us all more than we ever could have expected, both as musicians and as people. We have grown tremendously as a band in all aspects because of our experience with Erik."

Das Artwork für das Album wurde vom berühmten Coverkünstler Dan Seagrave angefertigt, der bereits mit anerkannten Bands wie Morbid Angel, Entombed, Suffocation, und Decrepit Birth zusammengearbeitet hat. Die Band hatte eine kurze inhaltliche Zusammenfassung an einige Künstler geschickt und auch wenn alle Rückmeldungen positiv waren, ist es Dan Seagrave gewesen, der das Konzept voll und ganz verstanden hat und instinktiv wusste, worauf die Band hinaus wollte. "He really tore into it! What we see on the cover is a landscape of a world that doesn't need mankind, we are relics here, and the sun is the only true master", meint Brody.

Geboren in den Ruinen ihrer absteigenden Heimatstadt Reading in Pennsylvania, befinden sich die 2009 gegründeten RIVERS OF NIHIL auf einem unbarmherzigen Weg, Ihre Musik auf das nächste Level zu heben. Ihr moderner progressive Death Metal ist genauso dunkel und schwer wie die Kohle und das Eisen, auf dem einst ihre Heimat erbaut wurde. TÝR veröffentlichen neue Single 'Mare Of My Night' exklusiv via MetalInsider.net!
Valkyrja, das siebte Studioalbum der von den Färöer Inseln stammenden TÝR, wird am 13. September in Europa veröffentlicht! Nachdem der Albumopener bereits vor einigen Wochen veröffentlicht worden ist, kann nun der zweite Song des Albums Mare of My Night via MetalInsider.net gestreamt werden. HIER entlang!

Sänger/Gitarrist Heri Joenson: "Mare Of My Night was by far the most difficult song on the album to write, music wise. What I usually do is work on a basic idea, a melody with a chord progression. I make variations over the basic idea and then I pick out the best variations for the respective parts of the song, verse, chorus etc. For this one I had more variations than ever before and I made more versions of this song that I've ever done before, so it was very difficult to choose. I'm still not sure I made the best possible song, which is not a satisfying feeling at all. But there you have it.

As for the text, once I went to work on it, it was written in a day or two, in the evenings during studio time. I had the title and the story line long in advance. It's based on the mare from folklore, the human-like creature that lies on top of you, riding you, causing bad dreams. As in nightmare, riding like a mare etc. Our anonymous viking, the protagonist of the story, finds in this song that his earthly woman has gone from being a goddess to being nightmare. It is also the most sexually explicit piece of lyric I have written so far."

TÝR haben erneut mit Jacob Hansen in seinen Hansen Studios im dänischen Ribe gearbeitet. Außerdem konnte die Band den angesehenen Schlagzeuger George Kollias als Studiodrummer gewinnen. Leaves' Eyes-Sängerin Liv Kristine singt zusammen mit Sänger/Gitarrist Heri Joensen in The Lay of Our Love ein Duett.

Über Valkyjra:
Valkyrja ist ein Konzeptalbum. Seine Storyline basiert auf einem namenlosen Wikinger, der seine Frau verlässt, um die Walkyrien auf dem Schlachtfeld zu beeindrucken, damit sie ihn nach Valhalla oder Fólkvangr, der Heimat von Freyja, der Göttin der Liebe, Sexualität, Schönheit, Fruchtbarkeit, des Goldes, der Zauberei, des Krieges und des Todes, bringt. Man könnte auch sagen, dass die Platte davon handelt, wie Frauen Männer beeinflussen und was Männer alles tun, um Frauen zu beeindrucken. Heri Joensen erklärt: "the woman that the warrior leaves may represent the earthly women. Freyja, The Lady Of The Slain, may represent the perfection of Women, and the Valkyrie is the link between the two, taking men from earthly to godly women."
