“Drown” is not just a song—it’s a journey into the darker, more progressive side of Canvas Of Silence. Originally conceived as a solo project by guitarist and songwriter Tatu Hanhikoski, the band has since evolved into a full-fledged collective featuring Aino Vuorenmaa (vocals), Jaakko Puusaari (guitars, vocals), Mikael Minkkinen (bass) and Iiro Vuori (drums). Their music draws on a vast palette of influences: from progressive and alternative metal to cinematic soundtracks and even the emotional clarity of pop.
Described by the band as “prog-influenced chorus metal”, Canvas Of Silence explores contrasts—complexity and simplicity, heaviness and vulnerability, raw power and melody. “Drown” exemplifies this vision. Twisting through shifting dynamics and haunting themes, the song depicts the inner chaos of a fractured mind. Both musically and lyrically, it was designed to feel slightly unsettling—an intentional emotional response reinforced by the immersive video visualizer released alongside it.
While “Drown” marks the band’s official debut under Rockshots Records, it also represents a return: the group released an early single back in 2017 and has spent the years since refining their artistic identity. "As the World Tree Fell" is the culmination of that process—a record born from silence, emotion and the need to create something that resonates deeply.

Starting as a solo project by Tatu Hanhikoski (guitars, programming, songwriting), Canvas of Silence has since formed into a full band including Aino Vuorenmaa (vocals), Jaakko Puusaari (guitars, vocals), Mikael Minkkinen (bass) and Iiro Vuori (drums). The music of Canvas of Silence paints its pictures on silence with complementary colours. It’s heavy but melodic, occasionally complex yet at the same time somewhat simple and catchy, glued together with female vocals and symphonic elements.
