AS EVERYTHING UNFOLDS - neues Album im April
As Everything Unfolds kündigen ihr neues Album „DID YOU ASK TO BE SET FREE?“ an, das am 10. April über Century Media erscheinen wird.
Anlässlich dieser Ankündigung erscheint heute auch die neue Single „GASOLINE“. 'Gasoline is a story about that unquantifiable and confusing human bond you get with someone else,” erklärt Charlie Rolfe. “That twin flame sensation, that mutual connection with an unknown person, almost like you were destined to be in each other’s lives. During this song it explores an explosive connection, the thought process, the denial in wanting it and the need to turn away from it, even though it feels wrong, you desperately try to keep hold of your life path, ignoring this fated sensation, how heartbreaking and soul destroying it can be. This idea tied in so neatly with the concept of Count Dracula and Mina's relationship from Bram Stoker's Dracula, that otherworldly, toxic and destined love. Similar to Set In Flow, we used the story to visually inspire the music video, to which shots from the video are homages to moments in the 1994 film.'

DID YOU ASK TO BE SET FREE? ist ein sehr persönliches Album, geprägt von Trauer, Trauma, Realitätsflucht und dem langsamen, unangenehmen Prozess der Konfrontation mit der Realität. Das Album entstand in einer Zeit tiefgreifender Umbrüche und dokumentiert eine Reise von emotionaler Geborgenheit und kreativem Flow hin zu Verlust, Taubheit und Orientierungslosigkeit, bevor allmählich wieder Bewegung in die Dinge kommt. Ausgehend von der Idee, dass Tagträumen und Fantasien sowohl Zuflucht als auch Falle sein können, beschäftigen sich die Songs mit Sucht, Selbstaufopferung, Burnout, zerbrochenen Beziehungen und der Frage, ob Freiheit etwas Erstrebenswertes oder etwas Beängstigendes ist. Inspiriert von Kino, Literatur und unbewusstem Schreiben, verändert sich das Album im Laufe der Zeit sowohl klanglich als auch textlich und spiegelt so echte Veränderungen wider, anstatt sich ihnen zu widersetzen.
Das Ergebnis ist ein Album, das keine klare Lösung bietet, sondern den fragilen, fortwährenden Prozess des Lernens, wie man existiert, trauert und weitermacht, einfängt.
