HEAVENWOOD - neues Studioalbum ab heute
After a decade-long silence on album length, Portuguese gothic/dark metal architects HEAVENWOOD return today with a long-anticipated and deeply personal statement: “The Tarot Of The Bohemians - Part II”, out now worldwide via Mighty Music on LP, CD and digital formats.
Rather than simply a sequel, this final chapter completes a conceptual cycle rooted in the esoteric writings of Gérard Encausse (Papus), pushing Heavenwood’s signature melancholic identity into darker, more cinematic and emotionally charged territory. The result is a record that feels both inevitable and hard-won, shaped as much by time as by intention.
Tracked at Lucky Cat Studio in Portugal and refined at Vamacara Studios in France by producer Niko H. Krauss (Loudblast, Sirenia), the album expands Heavenwood’s sonic palette into a more immersive and modern form of dark metal, without losing the gothic DNA that has defined them for over three decades.
For founder, guitarist and vocalist Ricardo Dias dos Santos, this release carries particular weight. Following the turbulence of recent years - including a near-fatal accident in 2022 and profound personal and structural changes within the band - the completion of “The Tarot Of The Bohemians” stands as both closure and continuation. “This album goes far beyond being a concept or a continuation of the first part. Against all odds, it is finally here — and it represents everything this journey has been through”, he says.
Visually, the record is framed by the symbolic artwork of Naya Kotko, whose imagery amplifies the album’s esoteric and dualistic themes, mirroring its balance between transformation and finality.
>From their landmark debut “Diva” (1996) - the first Portuguese metal album released in Japan - through “Swallow”, “Redemption”, and “Abyss Masterpiece”, Heavenwood have long operated at the intersection of gothic atmosphere, melodic weight and introspective storytelling. Today’s release marks the culmination of that evolution, closing the Tarot arc first introduced in 2016.
With “The Tarot Of The Bohemians - Part II” out now, Heavenwood reaffirm their place as one of Portugal’s most enduring and distinctive metal voices, completing a chapter three decades in the making.
