Oakland-based harbingers LYCUS will unleash the ominous curse of their debut LP Tempest next week, set for release on July 9th via 20 Buck Spin.
With a honed, masterful approach to their songwriting and delivery, LYCUS seemingly adds new vitality to the funeral doom genre with Tempest, the album’s three expansive tracks consuming nearly forty-two minutes of your soul with each listen. Recorded and mixed at hometown Earhammer Studios with Greg Wilkinson (Brainoil, Pallbearer, Samothrace, High On Fire), the album is literally drowning in an ocean-sized pool of incredibly descriptive accolades from media outlets.

Portland’s favorite punk metal combatants, TOXIC HOLOCAUST, recently completed the recording of their long-anticipated forthcoming new full-length. Titled Chemistry Of Consciousness, the 12-track beast of an offering was recorded by the band themselves, mixed with friend, Converge guitarist and renowned producer, Kurt Ballou at his own GodCity Studio and mastered by Brad Boatright (Sleep, From Ashes Rise, Nails) at Audiosiege Engineering.
As the debut LP from abrasive Florida hardcore unit CENTURIES, Taedium Vitae, nears release on Southern Lord this Summer, today the first single from the album hits the streets. The scathing fifth track from Taedium Vitae, “Pessum Ire” surges with the band’s upbeat, punk-inspired delivery, their morose and moody riffs injecting anguish and emotion to the track which builds into an epic closing.
